educational ambassadors network

Open Call: Join the AHDR Educational Ambassadors Network 2026–2027

Are you an educator committed to peace education and dialogue across communities in Cyprus? The Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) is inviting teachers, deputy headteachers and headteachers to join the second year of the Educational Ambassadors Network.

Launched in November 2025, the Network brings together Greek Cypriot and Turkish Cypriot educators in a sustained professional community, moving beyond one-off training. In its founding year, ambassadors built lasting working relationships across communities, participated in an amazing food tour of Nicosia and helped shape the newly launched Imagine Peace Academy.

Who we are looking for

You are eligible to apply if you:

  • work as a teacher, deputy headteacher or headteacher in a primary or secondary school in Cyprus;
  • have taken part in AHDR’s Imagine programme (teacher training, or accompanying students on student trainings), the Teacher Training and Peace Academy or have engaged with AHDR in another sustained way, such as workshops, developing educational materials, or regular participation in our activities;
  • are committed to working across communities and engaging with difficult and sensitive topics with care;
  • intend to commit to attending all four Network events in the 2026–2027 school year (dates to be announced soon).

We particularly welcome applicants who:

  • have brought students together across communities;
  • are in a position to share this work with colleagues and influence practice in their school;
  • bring experience from school levels, subject areas or regions that are less represented in the Network.

We aim for a Network that is balanced across communities, roles and school types.

What ambassadors do

The Educational Ambassadors Network is now part of the Imagine Peace Academy, AHDR’s new long-term framework for peace education in Cyprus. As ambassadors, you will be at the heart of this work, bringing peace education into classrooms and schools and helping to shape AHDR’s programmes as they develop.

Ambassadors take part in one of two complementary tracks. Teacher Ambassadors lead peace education at classroom level by piloting new approaches, supporting colleagues, and engaging students and families in dialogue across communities. Headteacher Ambassadors, including deputy headteachers, create the institutional conditions that allow peace education to take root and last in their schools. The two tracks meet separately and together across the year, and their experience feeds directly into AHDR’s peace education programmes and policy recommendations.

What you will gain

  • A sustained professional community of educators from both communities
  • Professional development and access to educational resources
  • A voice in shaping the Imagine Peace Academy as it develops
  • Recognition as an educational leader in peace-building

How to apply

Complete the short application form by 30th October 2026. You will be asked about your current role, your previous involvement with AHDR, and why you would like to join. Do you know a colleague who would be a strong ambassador? You can nominate them using the same form.
Questions: let us know by email at ahdr@ahdr.info

The project is implemented by the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR), under the Imagine Peace Academy (IPA) and funded by the Federal Foreign Office of the Republic of Germany.
