1. What is the AHDR, and what does it do?

The Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) is a non-profit, inter-communal organisation founded in 2003 in Nicosia, Cyprus. Its mission is to promote historical dialogue, critical thinking, and intercultural understanding through educational opportunities aimed at educators, young learners, and the broader public. The AHDR focuses on advancing the study of Cyprus’ history in a critical and comprehensive way, developing educational materials, and fostering peace and anti-racist education. Through its initiatives, the AHDR encourages multiperspectivity and public awareness, promoting a culture of peace and non-violence. In 2011, the AHDR also established the Home for Cooperation, a unique community center for dialogue and collaboration in the heart of Nicosia.


2. How can I get involved with the AHDR?

One of the most effective ways to support the AHDR is to become a member for 10€/₺‎150 per year, which supports the organization’s work. As a member, you also gain access to the AHDR Library, which offers a large collection of books, audiovisual resources, periodicals, archives, and reports in English, Greek, and Turkish. The library is located at the Home Café (open Monday to Saturday, 09:00–21:00), as well as on the first floor of the Home for Cooperation (Monday to Friday, 09:00–18:00), and is available for research purposes. 3. What are the opening hours of the AHDR?

The AHDR’s office is open Monday to Friday, from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.


4. How can I get AHDR’s publications?

You can access AHDR’s publications here. You can also get free copies at our office. Just send us an e-mail beforehand to confirm the publication’s availability. All our supplementary educational materials are produced in English, Turkish and Greek.


5. What projects and activities does AHDR offer for young learners?

AHDR offers a range of educational and cultural projects tailored to specific age groups. Children aged 5-12 can join the AHDR’s intercommunal choir “Songbirds”. Young learners from 8-17 are invited to join the “Game Changers” program, where they’ll connect with their peers through peace education and team-building activities. Young learners aged 14-17 can join the summer “Peace Camp Re-imaginedto challenge common stereotypes and take part in outdoor and team-building activities.
