Our Work
Imagine in Numbers
The ‘Imagine’ project, launched in 2016, focuses on deconstructing stereotypes and promoting the cultivation of a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence, through various activities aimed at students and teachers, from across the existing divide in Cyprus.
Some of the Imagine projects are monocommunal and bicommunal workshops, teacher training, study visits and other non-formal education activities, all designed to foster understanding and collaboration among participants from different backgrounds. Key components of the project feature youth camps, an intercommunal children’s choir, and initiatives like the Peace Ambassadors program, which empower young people to engage in peacebuilding and active citizenship. The project also emphasizes capacity building for educators and the dissemination of Peace Education materials in multiple languages.
Between other projects, recent activities have included a successful educational trip to Berlin, art workshops for children, and the launch of an anti-racism campaign, “Look for the Story,” which seeks to challenge stereotypes and promote inclusivity. Overall, ‘Imagine’ is an award-winning project, aiming at facilitating ongoing dialogue, contact and reconciliation between all communities in Cyprus.
It is implemented by the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) and funded by the Federal Foreign Office of the Republic of Germany.
