On the 21st of September, we celebrated the International Day of Peace 2024 at the Home for Cooperation.

Co-organized by the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR), Home for Cooperation (H4C), United Sports Cyprus (USC), and The Home Café, the event highlighted the importance of civil society in peacebuilding.

The day featured a discussion on federal power-sharing, organized with the Embassy of Switzerland, where Professor Eva Maria Belser and local representatives explored federalism as a tool for peaceful coexistence.

Participants also enjoyed a walking tour across Nicosia, led by Marios Epaminondas and Hayat Sebep, exploring the city’s historic social spaces.

Children engaged in creative activities using the Minilingo Flashcard Toy by the Home for Cooperation, while people joined United Sports Cyprus for a basketball shootout.

The AHDR Award & Certificate Ceremony honoured educators and youth contributing to peace education, and the evening closed with a lively DJ performance by DJ Claudio, bringing the community together through music.

We look forward to continuing our work in building a culture of peace and understanding!
