Educational Visit to Berlin, “Exploring Co-existence – Learning Together”
In the context of providing opportunities for contact and collaboration between Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot teachers and students, the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) is organizing, an educational trip to Berlin, Germany.
Twenty students, aged 14 to 17, will be selected, through an application and interview process, and will travel to Berlin accompanied by experienced teachers and AHDR staff from across the divide.
In July 2024, selected students will travel to Berlin accompanied by experienced teachers and AHDR staff from across the divide. In Berlin the participants will visit places related to the history of conflict, and separation, as well as reconciliation, peace and antiracism. The educational experience includes guided tours, museum visits, interactive workshops, and presentations in order to develop their competences, especially in regards to critical thinking, multiperspectivity, intercultural understanding, respect, and empathy.
The program is implemented by the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR), and funded by the Federal Foreign Office of the Republic of Germany.

- In addition to the application, a reference form must be submitted by someone affiliated to the students, such as a teacher, professor, coach, mentor, or team leader. You may find the reference form here.
- The application deadline is March 8, 2024.
- Applicants must be between 14 and 17 years old on 4th July 2024, meaning they must have been born between 5th July 2006 and 4th July 2010.
- Participation is free. All organisational costs, accommodation and meals are covered. Selected participants (only) will have to submit a participation fee of €50/1600 TL to secure their spot. This money will be returned upon completion of the trip.
- Knowledge of English, at least B1 level, is required.
- Participants must be legally able to cross at checkpoints and fly from Larnaca Airport.
