The AHDR has released a press statement titled “The Association for Historical Dialogue and Research invites both sides to support ‘Imagine’ – A Commitment to Dialogue and Cooperation,” calling on communities across Cyprus to reaffirm their support for the intercommunal Imagine programme.

The Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) has issued a press release reaffirming its commitment to the continuation of Imagine, a long-standing Peace Education programme implemented since 2016 under the auspices of the Technical Committee on Education and supported by the United Nations.

Despite ongoing challenges, Imagine has brought together more than 8,200 students and 2,600 teachers from across the divide in Cyprus, promoting cooperation, empathy, and mutual understanding through workshops and trainings on peace, anti-racism, and human rights. The programme’s impact has been recognised internationally, earning the GENE Global Education Award 2020/2021.

AHDR emphasized its readiness to resume full intercommunal implementation of Imagine, including school-hour participation, once both sides reaffirm their commitment to this key confidence-building measure. The organisation also thanked the Federal Foreign Office of the Republic of Germany for its continued support, as well as the educators and young learners who keep peacebuilding efforts alive.

Reiterating its mission, AHDR stated that it remains active, committed, and open to all who wish to join in the pursuit of a peaceful, inclusive, and united Cyprus.
