Mark your calendars for a special day dedicated to peace, unity, and community action! On Sunday, 21 September, the International Day of Peace will be commemorated at the Home for Cooperation, located in the heart of Nicosia’s buffer zone.

📅 Date: Sunday, 21 September
🕒 Time: 15:30 – 22:00
📍 Location: Home for Cooperation, Nicosia

Jointly organized by the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR), the Home for Cooperation, and United Sports Cyprus, this event aims to bring people together across the divide for meaningful dialogue, creative activities, and a shared commitment to building a more peaceful future.

The day will feature a dynamic programme of workshop, themed walk, Teaching for Peace Award, cultural activities, and more — all designed to inspire action, encourage empathy, and foster mutual understanding among communities.

This year’s celebration draws inspiration from the United Nations’ theme for the International Day of Peace, which calls on everyone to:

“Spark conversations about the urgent need for understanding, non-violence, and disarmament. Volunteer in your community, listen to voices different from your own, challenge discriminatory language in your workplace, report bullying both online and off-line, and take the time to verify facts before you post on social media.”

The International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly, and in 2001, it was unanimously declared a day devoted to non-violence and ceasefire.

Let’s come together and #ActNow for a Peaceful World.

Stay tuned — more details about the day’s activities will be shared soon!

We look forward to welcoming you all for what promises to be an inspiring and unifying celebration.
