Short Term Education Project Coordinator on Peace/Antiracist/Human Rights Education (Turkish speaking)

Background
The Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) is an inter-communal, non-profit, and non-governmental organisation established in 2003 in Nicosia, Cyprus. The AHDR aims to advance dialogue, critical thinking, and intercultural understanding amongst teachers, young learners, and the general public by providing access to various learning opportunities for all. More specifically, the AHDR promotes the study and research of the history of Cyprus in a critical and comprehensive way; develops supplementary educational materials for educators and young learners in relation to History Education and Peace/Anti-racist Education to be shared and used in and beyond classrooms; increases public awareness on the importance of dialogue and multiperspectivity; and promotes a culture of peace and non-violence through education at a local, national, regional, and international level. In 2011, the AHDR established the Home for Cooperation (H4C), a unique educational, cultural, and community centre in the heart of Nicosia, in the buffer zone.
Background to AHDR’s work on Education:
AHDR’s projects with Peace/Antiracist/Human Rights Education focuses on deconstructing stereotypes and promoting the cultivation of a Culture of Peace and Non-Violence, through various activities aimed at young learners and educators from across the divide in Cyprus. These activities include training for young learners and educators, team building and sports, teacher awards, anti-racist campaigns, educational study visits, children’s choir and annual peace camp.
Position
To support its work in Peace/Antiracist Education, the AHDR requires the services of a short term Education Project Coordinator with at least 2 years demonstrated experience in the aforementioned or similar fields to support the implementation of ongoing educational projects. The successful candidate will work to ensure high-quality delivery of project activities involving children and youth including Game Changers (team building and peace education program) and Intercommunal Children’s Choir among other projects in the areas of peace education, antiracist and human rights education with young learners (Ages 5-17).
The position is from August 2025 to March 2026.
Required Qualifications & Competencies for Education Project Coordinator
Academic Qualifications:
● Master’s Degree in relevant disciplines with minimum 1 year of experience in education projects or;
● Bachelor’s Degree in relevant disciplines with minimum 2 years of experience in education projects.
Competencies:
● Experience in the design and implementation of education projects related to young learners (5-17 years old);
● Communication and outreach skills, including engagement with diverse stakeholders;
● Highly cooperative and team-oriented mindset, with the ability to support, adapt, and contribute to a collaborative environment;
● Strong multitasking and organizational skills, and ability to manage several priorities simultaneously;
● Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and collaborate effectively across diverse teams, audiences and communities;
● Demonstrated ability to plan, adapt, and meet deadlines in a dynamic project environment;
● Experience providing logistical and administrative support for educational projects;
● Awareness of the political situation in Cyprus and relevant challenges and opportunities;
● Ability to actively seek to improve or offer creative options to solve problems;
● Excellent computer skills, especially a very good command of MS Office;
● Fluency is required in written and spoken Turkish and English;
● Demonstrated ability to cross checkpoints and work in both communities;
● Knowledge of Greek will be considered a plus.
