
Welcome to the Teaching for Peace Award 2025! This esteemed award seeks to honour teachers who are making significant contributions to promoting peace, understanding, and positive change within their classrooms, schools, and communities.
We believe that teachers have the power to shape the future by fostering values of tolerance, respect, and social cohesion.
Who Can Apply?
All teachers in Cyprus from public or private schools including pre-primary, primary, lower-secondary, upper-secondary, and vocational/technical education.
Selection Criteria
Teachers have to submit a peace education project, material, or activity (e.g., lesson plans, pedagogical toolkits, campaigns, artwork, policy recommendations, etc.).
All submissions must:
- be engaging and inclusive of the diverse communities across Cyprus and address topics as Peace; Human Rights; Interculturalism; Sustainable Development; Global Citizenship; History for Reconciliation;
- provide measurable data on the impact of the submitted material, project, or activity. The impact should be adaptable and transferable to other settings, ensuring long-term sustainability. Application must include information such as the number of participants reached through the activity or project;
- offer a unique, original, and innovative approach in its content, tools, methodology, and audience targeting.

Award Benefits
The recipients of the Teaching for Peace Award 2025 will be celebrated for their dedication and receive recognition for their valuable contribution to peace education. Prizes include:
- For the first prize winners: €800 and the Teaching for Peace Award (designed by Nurtane Karagil)
- For the second prize winners: €300 and the Teaching for Peace Award
Important Note:
Teachers must ensure that the prize money will be used for peace-building activities in formal educational settings until the end of the school year 2025/26.
